Alphabetography

The task was to take photographs that look letters of the alphabet, i decided to spell out my first name and my middle name, Kate Louise.

Finding things to look exactly like these letters was very difficult and challenging, but the challenge helped inspire me to find the letters that others deemed difficult.

  • K- I took a book and put it on my window sill to get the right angle, once i got the right angle, i had to make sure it actually looked like a K, and this was the challenging part, the pages weren’t staying where i wanted them, so i decided to paper clip some together to get my final result.
  • A- The A is a clothes peg on a washing line, it took lots of attempts to get the right angle, lighting and composition.
  • T- The t was difficult to find but with help from my friends, we went looking round school and found an empty parking bay, the T was made by the paint that symbolises 2 parking bays vertically next to each other.
  • E- The first E was taken from my dog walk, my dad and i were walking and i looked up at this house and saw it, before this, i was tempted to take a picture of a post box that has the late monarch Queen Elizabeth II’s initials on it.

  • L- When i was first introduced to this task, i thought L would be a simple letter to find, but i kid you not, this was one of the last letters i found!! this again is a parking bay, but unlike the T i took, this was from one parking bay that wasn’t near any others.
  • O- The O i used was made by yours truly, i had a lei from an old party, and thought what would happen if i just threw it, and low and behold it made the perfect O, the texture of my carpet behind it gave it an outdoor grass and flower vibe, but once i put it into black & white, the flowers didn’t stand out as much.
  • U-I took photos of so many windows, until i found the perfect one, when i got back to the classroom, i used light-room and flipped it round and put it into monochrome so that the bricks didn’t take away from the U.
  • I- I went in to a classroom and then the teachers desk leg looked like an I, so with some cropping and editing, i created the perfect I.
  • S- i found a wire in the chapel that was slightly curves and made an s.
  • E- This E was found at the bottom of a bannister, it curled in a similar way to an E, i also liked this because of how different both Es are.
